Self Care Hacks

Self Care Hacks

Whether you’re feeling a little bit sluggish or simply looking for ways to keep your everyday routine in a healthy flow, here are some of my favourite self-care hacks to keep everything ticking along nicely…

Tidy your bedroom
Nothing promotes a more restorative sleep than a tidy bedroom. Even the smallest pile of clothes or slightly messy corner will instantly transform your room when tidied away. Spend a little bit of time each day doing a quick organise, and notice how clear your head feels when you get into bed.

Do the task you’ve been putting off…
Remember that feeling from school of knowing you had coursework due in? Nothing beats the sheer relief of having it completed and out of the way. Well, in day to day life, there are still tasks like that. Whether you’ve been meaning to text someone back or go to the post office, tick off those small tasks niggling the back of your head. You’ll feel brilliant once they’re complete.

Exercise in the morning
A newer arrival to my list, but I’ve become obsessed with morning exercise. There are a number of reasons for this. First of all, it kick starts my day with a burst of energy. Second of all, I can never be bothered as the day goes on. And lastly, I find that I’m more likely to stick to my plan, because I’ve done my exercise before I have time to talk myself out of it!

Switch off your phone
It’s the simplest, oldest remedy, but even setting aside blocks of time to have a phone-free switch off really makes the world of difference. Sit in the garden, read a book, go for a walk, listen to the radio… you’ll soon pass the time, and a screen-free detox will work wonders for your sense of self.

Watch an old film that you love
A lot of the time when I’m trying to unwind, I revert back to tried and tested classics. I love the feeling of catching up with an old friend, and films can feel the same. Switching on something that you know and love is a comforting, relaxing way to enjoy the evening, and doesn’t require as much focus and attention if you’re feeling a little out of sorts.
