Whether we like it or not, most of us find ourselves influenced in some way by our mobile phones. We wake up, we scroll our feeds, and we take it all in without realising.
This in mind, I like to make sure I have all kinds of powerful women at my fingertips. Here’s my guide to the kind of ladies that will brighten up your feed, day in, day out, and those that I’ll be celebrating this International Women’s Day…
I love reading a new book, and find that by following lots of different authors I’m always hearing about great new releases. Whether they’re sharing their own work or celebrating that of a friend, as soon as I’ve seen something about a great book, I find myself reading on my train into work instead of playing on my phone.
There’s nothing more overwhelming than having to do your food shop after a long, tiring day at work when you’re too hungry to think. By having a few chefs in my reading list, I find inspiration during busy times and as a result I experiment more with my meals. That little bit of inspiration can be the difference between motivating myself to cook and calling it quits with a takeaway…
Let’s be honest, sometimes the news can be a little overwhelming and you may wish to bury your head in the sand for half an hour. By following comedians, there is always some light-hearted entertainment to be enjoyed as a welcome distraction from e-mails and life admin.
I’m not entirely sure I use my own social media for anything as much as I do looking at animals. I am always deciding who I would love to have as a pet if I didn’t travel so much! There’s something instantly soothing and heart-warming by having a few four-legged friends in your social timeline.
Women who stand up for what they believe in really deserve to be celebrated, on International Women’s Day and every day. I enjoy following activists from all kinds of social circles, because when faced with such strong opinions I find it easier to form my own. Do I agree? Would I disagree with some sentiments but agree on others? It all helps me to develop my own mind set.
